Homeless Woman Charged with Attempted Murder in Random Knife Attack on Main Street in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A homeless woman has been arrested and charged with Attempted Murder. The arrest comes following an incident Saturday morning in which a man was stabbed in the back.

Autumn Graham aged 44, was arrested in the area of Library Green in downtown New Rochelle, several blocks from the crime scene.

According to NRPD, Graham has been arrested numerous times going back to 1998, including 5 felonies.

As first reported by Talk of the Sound, on August 3rd at 8:47 a.m. New Rochelle Police Officers were dispatched to Main Street and Echo Avenue on a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, Officers located the victim, a 38 year old Male/Hispanic, conscious and sitting on the sidewalk, but in extreme pain. He had been stabbed in his back and sustained serious injuries. The weapon, a knife, was lodged in the victim’s back. The victim is a resident of this city. He was transported by Ambulance to an area Hospital.

New Rochelle Police Detectives were able to develop information on a female suspect, and at about 3:30 pm the suspect, Autumn Graham aged 44, was arrested in the area of Library Green. The suspect is homeless, with a homeless shelter in this city as the last known address

“It does not appear that the suspect and victim are known to each other, and the attack appears to have been unprovoked and random,” said New Rochelle Police Captain Cosmo Costa.

Autumn Graham was charged with Attempted Murder 2nd degree and Assault 1st, and is due to be arraigned in New Rochelle City Court on this date.

UPDATE: Westchester County District Attorney’s Office announces arraignment

Autumn Graham, 44, of New Rochelle, was arraigned this afternoon in New Rochelle City Court on a charge of Assault in the First Degree, a class B felony, in connection with the weekend stabbing of a city man. Following today’s arraignment, Graham was remanded into custody. She is due back in court Aug. 19, 2019.

On Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019, at approximately 8:45 a.m., the victim left his apartment to go to work. As he was walking in front of 345 Main Street, New Rochelle, Autumn Graham walked toward him. She then stopped, stabbed him in the back of the left neck/shoulder area and walked away. Police responded and found the victim with the knife still in his back. He was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx with serious injuries to his spinal cord.

The defendant is a resident of a shelter for the homeless. Police found her Saturday morning in a city park where she was arrested and taken into custody.
