Bronx Man Facing Drug Charges After Driving Wrong Way in Downtown New Rochelle, Causing Multi-Vehicle Crash

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle Police arrested Galo Ba, 46, of the Bronx, Sunday. Ba was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance(crack pipe), leaving the scene of a Personal Injury accident, Reckless Driving, and DWI Drugs.

Ba sustained a broken left wrist.

The driver of the broadsided vehicle was treated and released at Montefiore for minor injury to his arm.

At 5:25 pm New Rochelle Police Officers responded to Main Street and North Avenue regarding a hit and run auto accident. 

“Ba drove the wrong way on Huguenot Street from the west junction, made a right on North Avenue and proceeded to Main Street where he ran a red light and broadsided a vehicle in the intersection,” said NRPD Captain Cosmo Costa. “He then struck two parked vehicles.”

After Ba fled on foot down North Avenue. He was apprehended shortly thereafter.
