Greenburgh and New Rochelle Police Grab Bullets, Guns and Money in Major Drug Bust

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — After a joint investigation between the Greenburgh Police Department’s Street Crime Unit and the City of New Rochelle Police Department’s Special Investigation’s Unit, John J Cox III, 28, of 141 Winthrop Ave, Elmsford, NY 10523 was arrested for a firearm offense and numerous drug offenses.

On November 6, 2019 at approximately 5:30 p.m, members of the Greenburgh Street Crime Unit, City of New Rochelle Special Investigation’s Unit, Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force, and the Greenburgh SWAT Team executed a narcotics search warrant at 141 Winthrop Avenue located in the Elmsford Section of the Township. Approximately 27 grams of cocaine, 17 plastic twists of crack-cocaine, 100 pills of Oxycodone, 41 pills of Adderall, 1 loaded 9mm Taurus handgun with its serial numbers defaced, 79 rounds of ammunition, and approximately $100,000.00 US Currency were recovered.

John J. Cox III was charged with four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree with intent to sell narcotics, a Class B-Felony, one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree with intent to sell a stimulant, a Class B-Felony, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a Class B-Felony, one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a Class C-Felony, and three counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a Class B-Felony,

Cox was remanded to the Westchester County Jail.
