NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A woman climbed out a window after New Rochelle police positioned a ladder set up for her rescue from five pitbulls which were fighting in her apartment.

New Rochelle Police Officers responded to a private residence on First Street in regard to a dog biting incident on November 1st at about 8:53 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers located an injured victim, a 25-year-old male and owner of the dogs, who had sustained small puncture wounds to his right hand and both lower legs. The victim advised he and his girlfriend, who was still inside, own 5 pit bull dogs and that one was fighting the others. He advised that while trying to separate the dogs, he was bitten multiple times. Furthermore, he advised that before exiting the premise to meet up with officers, he could place his girlfriend out of harm’s way and inside one of the bedrooms. The victim was transported by Ambulance to New Rochelle Montefiore Hospital.

While on scene, Officers climbed up a fire escape located adjacent to the north side of the building, breach a side window and subsequently noose one of the pit bull dogs.

This enabled the girlfriend to escape via one of the front windows. She was helped down without further incident.

The Humane Society was notified, responded to the scene and secured all 5 pit bull dogs, which were subsequently taken to be confined for 10 days.
