NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A man was robbed at gunpoint last night when he attempted to sell a PS5 game console near 112 Seventh Street, the second such incident in the past week. A 27-year-old man was similarly pistol/whipped and robbed at gunpoint on Sunday.
The victim reported to officers that the suspect had brandished a hand gun, and stole an XBOX Series X Game Condole from him, before fleeing on foot eastbound on Washington Avenue.
The victim and suspect had met at the incident location, where the victim was to sell an Xbox Series X Game Console to the suspect. They had arranged to meet via an app called “Offer Up.”
OfferUp is an online mobile-first Consumer-to-Consumer marketplace with an emphasis on in-person transactions. It was founded as a competitor to Craigslist, differentiating itself with mobile-friendly apps and user profiles with ratings.
The suspect was described as a Male/Black, 6’2” in height, heavy set, wearing black sweatshirt, white surgical mask, and carrying a Louis Vuitton messenger bag.
The suspect in the PS 5 robbery on Sunday was described as a Male/Black, 6’2” in height, heavy set, wearing an all-black track suit, Louis Vuitton messenger bag and Adidas sneakers.
