NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A former New Rochelle High School student committed suicide this week, according to an email circulated by school administrators earlier today.

The student moved after the 2017-2018 school year, but attended Isaac E. Young Middle School and 9th grade at the high school.

Information about the student’s passing is being shared through social media.

“With the significant rise in mental health concerns we want to make sure our students know how to and are able to access support if needed,” said Dr. Joshua Logan, a school psychologist.

Logan asked students to alert clinical staff know if they have any concerns regarding a student’s emotional well being and safety.

“If a student shares any concerns with you or if you have any concerns regarding a student please let one of the clinical staff or the student’s school counselor know as soon as possible,” said Dr. Logan. “Please do not rely solely on email if you have a concern about a student.”

“We also know the news of a suicide and the rising concerns with mental health impacts the adults in the buidling as well.  We also wanted to make sure you know what support is available to you.”
