Two Suspects Sought After Shots Fired on Main Street in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Two suspects, both male/blacks in their mid-20’s, one wearing a gray jacket and an orange hooded sweatshirt, the other wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt both fired handguns Sunday afternoon in the hollow and fled on foot southbound on Echo Avenue.

The Hollow is the Bracey Apartments at 345-361 Main Streets. The shots were reported at 361 Main Street.

The police said the intended target was unknown to them.

As first reported by Talk of the Sound, the incident occurred on February 28, at about 2:00 pm.

New Rochelle Police Officers say they responded to the vicinity of Echo Avenue and Main Street on a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers observed a male/black flee the area on foot. He was subsequently apprehended after a foot pursuit, and identified as Nasiem K Lopez, aged 22 of White Plains, New York. He was found to be in possession of a loaded Smith & Wesson 9 mm handgun, and was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon Third Degree and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana Second Degree. It does not appear that this individual was involved in the shooting. A second individual was detained and released.

Traffic in the area was closed off for several hours.

  1. Heavily trafficked area. Be aware of your surroundings. With all the new rental buildings nearing completion, people may opt to not want to live in the Queen City. It’s a problem.
