Attorney Andrene Smith Announces Candidacy for Mamaroneck Board of Education

MAMARONECK, NY –Andrene Smith today launched her campaign for the Mamaroneck Union Free School District Board of Education.

In a statement she promised to “advocate for an inclusive, growth-minded culture where all students thrive.” On the first day of her campaign, Smith says she raised over $1,000 from supporters.

“Public education is intimately tied to the vitality of our community,” said Smith. “I graduated from a public high school and know first-hand the importance of having good schools to nurture and support students. I decided to run because I want to be a part of the team that creates safe and loving spaces, provides a quality and equitable education, equips all students for success, and advocates for all of our children.”

Smith’s campaign priorities include Enhancing Trust and Transparency, Supporting the Community, Closing the Opportunity Gap, and Smart Budgeting.

“There is no doubt that there is a strong educational foundation in the Mamaroneck School District,” said Smith. “Now is the time to build upon that foundation.”

Smith had served on the District Enrollment Task Force and District Equity Team.

A five-year Mamaroneck resident, Smith has an eight-year-old son in the third grade in a District program.

Smith serves on the Board of Directors of Girls Inc. Westchester, an organization that inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Professionally, she is the Managing Counsel of Public Policy and Government Affairs for a large national bank. Smith earned her undergraduate degree from Stanford University, a Master’s in Business Administration from Schiller International University in Paris, and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center.

“My educational and professional qualifications are perfectly suited to serving on the Mamaroneck School Board, and I am proud and excited to announce my candidacy,” said Smith.
