Near Miss in Downtown New Rochelle as Vehicle Hits Pedestrian and Building

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A vehicle struck a pedestrian and a building Sunday night at about 9:00 p.m. then took off.

According to New Rochelle Police, a resident of 165 Huguenot (The Printhouse) was walking out of the building when a vehicle traveling westbound on Huguenot Street lost control, struck the resident and the building, then fled the scene.

The glass at the revolving door was smashed to pieces.

Witnesses observed a man, bleeding, taken from the scene in an ambulance. A woman with a small child, believed to be residents of the building were seen in the lobby being interviewed by an NRPD officer.

The Traffic Unit is conducting a follow-up.

  1. The driver had spun out due to the bad weather and the road being slippery and slightly hit the glass doors but never hit anyone. The driver came out of their car to check on everyone to make sure everyone was ok which everyone was and then drove off.
