Police Dragnet Nabs Shooter in Port Chester

PORT CHESTER, NY — On Thursday at about 11p.m., Port Chester Police received 911 calls of shots fired in the area of Fox Island Road.

Multiple officer’s responded and upon arrival found a 25-year-old male with a single gunshot wound to the chest area.

The male was conscious and able to give officer’s a description of what happened and who the suspect was,as the victim and suspect know each other.

An immediate search with assistance of our K9 and county aviation of the area,did not turn up any location of the suspect.

Westchester County crime scene unit was called to investigate the scene.

It was believed the suspect fled the area on foot after the shooting, and a Village wide search was undertaken.

During the lengthy search,for the suspect, numerous high risk searches were conducted by our ESU members with assistance of Rye PD ,and our K9.

With the assistance of West Chester County Real Time Crime Center, information was developed that the suspect was in the area of Maple Place.

Officer’s responded and were able to place the suspect under arrest without incident.

The 28-year-old male was charged with Assault in the first degree and remanded to the Westchester County jail,as he was unable to make bail.

The victim is recovering from his injuries and appears to be in stable condition.

This is still a very active investigation,we can not release any other.
