NRPD Apprehends New Rochelle Man Wanted by NYPD for Murder in Home Invasion Robbery, Second Suspect at Large

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Marlon Gardner, aged 23, of 550 Fifth Avenue, was arrested Tuesday and booked for Murder Second Degree, and turned over to the New York City Police Department.

The arrest came after a Detective from the New York City Police Department Bronx Homicide Division contacted the New Rochelle Police Department regarding a home invasion robbery in which the victim was shot and killed.

The Detective believed that the suspects were from New Rochelle based on information they received. Working with the New Rochelle Police Department, two suspects were positively identified. A suspect vehicle was also identified.

On June 8th, at about 4:15 am, a License Plate Reader alerted New Rochelle Police Officers of the wanted car’s presence in the vicinity of Webster Avenue and Lincoln Avenue. While Officers searched the area, New Rochelle Police Headquarters, monitoring City cameras, observed the car pull into 405 Webster Avenue. The wanted car was subsequently located in the rear of that lot occupied. A perimeter was established, and police cars utilized to prevent a vehicle pursuit. As the vehicle was being approached the wanted subject jumped out and a brief foot pursuit took place resulting in his immediate apprehension.

The second suspect is still being sought by police. No further details were provided in what is an ongoing investigation.
