If you like Instagram and you like reading Talk of the Sound, you will be happy to know we are (finally) rolling out a new (to us) service that will let you follow Talk of the Sound on IG. Some may wonder what took so long! Us too.
Talk of the Sound launched (officially) on September 1, 2008, with a website and a social media presence such as was popular then, primarily Facebook and Twitter.
We have also had an Instagram account since 2008:

We never used it much (as in never!) because IG does not allow adding links to posts and in our view there was no point in posting images, videos, and test without links back to the relevant article.
Now maybe there is (and has been for a while, but we failed to notice). A sharp-eyed reader made us aware of a service that offers a workaround used by a host of popular media outlets like Vice, USA TODAY, Fast Company, The Wall Street Journal and more. Admittedly, we are late to the party. That said, we tested this new service this week and, despite a bit of a learning curve for us, we love it. We think you will too.
So, with somewhat belated but still great fanfare, we are announcing that after 13 years we have decided to fully embrace Instagram.
We deleted the few images that were cluttering up our IG account (except one of Zeke, the Bull Terrier, with a slobbered on baseball), upgraded our IG to a Business account and took a paid subscription with Later which offers the cool new servicelinkin.bio.
How it works
On our end, we create an image of a headline and cover photo of an article on Talk of the Sound, add the image with a link to the article using the Later app.
On your end, Linkin.bio is a simple two-step process.
- In IG, you click the link in our IG bio:
linkin.bio/talkofthesound
- You find the image/article your looking for and click on it.
That’s it! The second click takes you to the full article on TalkoftheSound.com, and you can dive in for the details on any story that interests you.
The Linkin.bio landing page is a copy of our IG account grid which provides readers a seamless experience in following us on their preferred social media platform while accessing the full story if they wish.
It is so simple that we are a bit sheepish about not getting around to this sooner. Anywho, as a reminder of this little two-step, we will add a little note to each IG post like this:
