Paddle for the Sound 2021: Kayak, Paddleboard, Sail, or Run to Raise Funds

Written By: Robert Cox

NEW HAVEN, CT — Save the Sound and Nancy Vincent, formerly of SUP Westchester, present the sixth Annual Paddle for the Sound event from July 23 – August 1. For the second year, it will be a virtual event that participants can join from anywhere.

For 10 days, the sixth Annual Paddle for the Sound fundraiser for Save the Sound will virtually bring together athletes, outdoor enthusiasts, and activists for either a leisure paddle, kayak, sail, or walk, or a competition for those who want to challenge themselves. Participants will raise awareness and funds to fight climate change, save endangered lands, protect the Sound and its rivers, and restore local ecosystems.

Prizes will be awarded to the first place finishers based on total distance covered over the duration of the event in each category: paddleboard/kayak, sailboat, and land lover.

Participants will start their virtual races from self-selected launch points, tracking their miles and time with each excursion. Those interested in supporting without racing can “raise their paddle” in an online virtual auction today through August 1, featuring private boat excursions, local artisan products, and tickets to a Bridgeport Islanders game.

The event is co-hosted by Nancy Vincent, formerly of SUP Westchester. Since this is an extended virtual event, participants can register up until Friday, July 29 at www.savethesound.org/Paddle2021.
