Major Pile Up on I-95 Southbound Backs Up Morning Traffic from New Rochelle to Connecticut

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — After a tractor trailer jackknifed on I-95 Southbound, blocking the entire roadway from the jersey-barrier in the median to the guard rail along shoulder, a passenger vehicle went directly under the sideways trailer, in front of the rear set of wheels, and became stuck under the trailer. The top of the vehicle was destroyed.

The driver was able to crawl out of the vehicle and found on the ground.

The incident occurred just beyond the Potter Avenue bridge shortly before 7 a.m.

A second tractor trailer and a second passenger vehicle were also involved.

The driver of the vehicle under the tractor trailer was treated by paramedics at the scene the transported to an area hospital.

There were no other injuries.

The New Rochelle Fire Department, Empress Ambulance, New York State Police, and the New York State Thruway Authority on scene.
