Bronx Man Who Crashed into a State Police Car and Fled, Caught by New Rochelle Police with Gun

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Toumani Diabate, 19 years of age, of the Bronx, was charged Saturday with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree — Firearm.

On September 18th, 2021, at about 2:45 p.m., New Rochelle Police Officers on patrol were notified that New York State Police were pursuing a car on I-95 for various traffic offenses including colliding with a State Police vehicle and fleeing the scene.

The State Police ended the pursuit as the vehicle exited the highway at Exit 16, New Rochelle.

Shortly after the vehicle exited I-95, New Rochelle Police located the vehicle, parked and unoccupied at the dead end of Fountain Place. A brief investigation led to New Rochelle Police locating a suspect who attempted to flee on foot. A brief foot pursuit ensued, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. A Kahr .380 caliber handgun was found to be in his possession.
