New Rochelle Firefighters Respond to Early Morning Rollover Crash/Entrapment on Hutch

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle Firefighters were called early Friday to the scene of a rollover crash on the Hutchison River Parkway Northbound at Exit 9 by North Avenue near The Ursuline School. The rollover was the result of a hit-and-run. The car that collided with the Smart car fled but was located by the Westchester County Police Department at Mamaroneck Avenue. That driver will be charged with Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident.

Initial reports at 7:06 a.m. were of an “overturned auto / entrapment” with one person unresponsive. There was one person, the driver, in the car. The driver was shaken up but got out of the car on their own and was transported to a local hospital, according to an NRFD spokesperson.

The vehicle, a white SmartCar with Connecticut license plates, suffered damage along the left side as well as the front windshield and rear hatch.

Information on the number of people in the vehicle or their condition has not been released at this time. Calls to the Westchester County Police Department and New Rochelle Fire Department have yet to be returned due to the early hour of the incident.

UPDATE: NRFD says car rolled completely over and landed back upright. One person in the car. Transported to hospital. No word on condition of driver.
