NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle Firefighters responded to a fully involved garage fire early Saturday morning. There were no injuries.

NRFD received a call shortly after 8 a.m. that smoke was emanating from a one-story garage located at 272 Union Avenue between 4th Street and 5th street.

One witness who keeps his car on the property just outside the garage said that when firefighters open the garage door, a wall of fire came rushing out of the structure.

The fire was knocked down within minutes

New Rochelle Fire Department is always deeply concerned with structure fires in the densely populated West End of New Rochelle which has many houses, and other structures along with tightly packed vehicles making fires difficult and dangerous with a high risk of spreading from one structure to many. The large number of crowded, illegal apartments is always a concern.
