Mamaroneck Man Found Dead After Basement Apartment Fire

MAMARONECK, NY — After Village of Mamaroneck Firefighters quickly extinguished a basement fire Sunday at 518 Walnut Street, a man was found dead at the location.

On Saturday at approximately 12:00 pm, the Village of Mamaroneck PD responded to the scene along with the Village of Mamaroneck Fire Department. The man’s body was found after a search of the residence.

The Westchester County Cause and Origin Team, as well as an Arson Investigator from the Westchester County Department of Public Safety were notified and responded.

The investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE/OBITUARY

Roberto Eric Pallas, of Mamaroneck, passed away tragically on November 7, 2021. He was 33. Roberto was born September 21, 1988 to Eric Pallas and Rosario Villavicencio. A graduate of Rye Neck High School, Class of 2006, where he played both tennis and basketball. He later went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University in 2010. Roberto had worked in customer service as a supervisor for Tommy Copper in Armonk. He then became a teacher who taught English to elementary school students in Japan, a place dear to his heart. Roberto enjoyed nature and loved to hike. He climbed to top of Mount Fuji in 2015 and was able to take his mother with him on part of the journey. He was a lover of classical music and had made several trips to Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Roberto leaves behind his cherished parents, Eric & Rosario, and dear brothers, Rudolph and Nicholas.

A memorial gathering will take place on Thursday 5-8pm at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME 767 E. Boston Post Road Mamaroneck, 914-698-5968.

A Memorial Mass will be on Friday 1pm at St. Gregory the Great RC Church, 215 Halstead Avenue, Harrison, NY.
