Queens Man Facing Multiple Violent Felony Charges for DV Shooting in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A Queens man is facing decades in prison after New Rochelle charged him with 4 violent felonies.

Muhammed Gumaneh, 27, of Queens, New York was arrested Tuesday following an incident on January 7, in New Rochelle.

Gumaneh was charged with Attempted Assault—1st Degree, a class B Felony, Attempted Burglary—1st Degree, a Class B Felony, Reckless Endangerment—1st Degree, a Class D Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon—2nd degree, a Class C Felony.

On January 7th, 2022 at about 7:45pm, New Rochelle Police responded to a residential apartment building on a report of a domestic dispute with one party trying to enter an apartment by shooting through the door. Upon arrival, police located the fleeing suspect and a brief pursuit ensued, with the suspect ultimately evading police. The victim, a 24-year-old female New Rochelle resident, was not injured.

New Rochelle Detectives, working with Law Enforcement Partners at the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, the Westchester County Police Real Time Crime Center, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the United States Marshalls Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, were able to locate and apprehend the suspect without incident at his Queens, NY residence on January 11, 2022.
