New Rochelle Public Library Revises Mask Policy

Written By: Robert Cox

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Mask requirements inside the main branch of the New Rochelle Public Library and Huguenot Children’s Library are lifted as of Monday, March 14, 2022.

Members of the public and staff will have the option whether or not to wear masks in public and staff spaces. The decision to lift mask requirements is within the context of recent pronouncements from the CDC and New York State, and the extraordinary decrease in COVID-19 infections locally and in the Metro New York area.

This optional wearing of masks will also be in place in the Library’s Ossie Davis Theater. However, theater capacity will remain at 50% of its total capacity for the indeterminate future.

“The Board and I strongly endorse the safe use of our facility for all our users. We will continue to encourage social distancing, make hand sanitizer available throughout the facility, and furnish masks free of charge to any library user requesting one”, said Tom Geoffino, Director. “The Board and I will continue to monitor the pandemic situation and make modifications as needed if circumstances change.”

  1. How is this possible? Is this not a public library? I recommend that the board be tarred and feathered.

    1. You’re free to continue wearing masks as long as it keeps you feeling safe. On a side note, I hear you can remove all risk by sheltering in place in a bunker.
