Online Weed Store Purportedly Operating in North End of New Rochelle a Fake, Police Say

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (April 15, 2022) — Hopheads can stand down. The Maclean Weed Store currently listed on Google Maps operating out of a house in a residential neighborhood in the North End of New Rochelle is a fake, police say.

“This store was reported to us by the homeowner at that address, who stated they are not affiliated with said store in any way,” said New Rochelle Police Captain J. Collins Coyne, Commander of the Criminal Investigation Division. “We are in the midst of contacting Google to get them to remove that address from the site and get to the bottom of how that address landed on the site.”

While cannabis retail stores will be legal this fall, they are not likely to be approved in residential neighborhoods.

The New York State Cannabis Control Board issued the first licenses to 52 local farmers to grow marijuana for adult recreational use yesterday. Those licensed farmers will supply products to legal cannabis retail stores which will be licensee later this year.

The store listing is either an elaborate hoax complete with hours of operation, ADA access to the store and customer reviews or a real business using an assumed addresses.

We were unable to reach the property owner for comment.

Listed service options include curbside pickup, same-day delivery and safety dividers at checkout.

The Afghan Kush is among the most popular selections.
