RYE BROOK, NY (August 21, 2022) — The Westchester County Police Special Response Team was called in by Rye Brook Police to make entry into a residence to serve an arrest warrant for a domestic incident involving a firearm issued out of Rockland County.

At 6:40 pm on April 20, 2022, Rye Brook Police were notified of a domestic incident involving a firearm that occurred in Ramapo, NY. Ramapo Police Department notified Rye Brook police that they were trying to locate Jonathon Larywon, 29. Ramapo PD believed Larywon might have been at his mother’s residence at 5 Fellowship Lane in Rye Brook.

Larywon is wanted for Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a Class E Felony, and Menacing with a Firearm, a Class A Misdemeanor, after he aimed a shotgun at his girlfriend.

Ramapo Police Department asked for Rye Brook PD to check and see if Larywon was at that location.

Rye Brook police officers checked the residence initially at 6:40 pm and no one was at the residence.

After periodic checks of the location, officers observed the vehicle Larywon was reported to be driving and a male subject inside the house at 8:20 pm.

Officers at that time attempted to contact Larywon who refused to speak with the officers or come out of the house.

To ensure the safety of the area residents, Rye Brook Police contacted Westchester County Department of Public Safety, Port Chester and Rye Police Departments who assisted at the scene to secure the area until the Westchester County Police Special Response Team could arrive to safely make entry into the residence to serve the Ramapo arrest warrant.

At 1:22 am, Westchester County Police Special Response Team made entry to the home using a robot and searched the residence for the Larywon, who was not inside the house and apparently was able to get out before police could enter.

An arrest warrant has been issued by the New Hempstead Town Court in Rockland County, and Ramapo Police Department is actively searching for Larywon.

Rye Brook Police will continue to patrol the area.
