Two People Stabbed at VIP Country Club in New Rochelle, One Victim Critical, Arrest Made

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (April 28, 2022) — New Rochelle Police have a suspect in custody after multiple people were stabbed in the parking lot at the VIP Country Club located at 600 Davenport Avenue.

UPDATE 9:53 AM Elijah Santiago is currently in a holding cell at New Rochelle Police Department headquarters. He is expected to be arraigned later today on so-far unspecified felony assault charges, according to sources at New Rochelle City Court.

UPDATE 11:03 AM: Elijah Santiago, 25, of New York, NY is charged with 2 counts of Assault in the First Degree, a B Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon Fourth Degree, an A Misdemeanor.

On April 27th, 2022 at about 11:00pm, New Rochelle Police responded to the parking lot of 600 Davenport Avenue, the V.I.P. County Club, on a report of a stabbing. New Rochelle Police located two victims, one with a laceration to his back and the other who was stabbed in the abdomen. They were both transported to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx for treatment. The stabbing victim was taken into surgery and is currently listed as being in critical condition. The victim who was slashed on the back was treated and released.

UPDATE 3/29: Santiago wielded a red folding knife to slice Semir Muratovic along his lower abdomen, severing one of his external iliac arteries. He then stabbed Almir Muratovic in the back. Almir told police after the attack he was holding his brother in his arms, on the ground, attempting to stop his guts from coming out. Further details from Santiago’s arraignment here.

Santiago fled in his white Ford. New Rochelle Police located and arrested the suspect at the dead end of Davenport Avenue without further incident.

The suspect and the victims were all working as valets at the V.I.P Club and this incident stemmed from a dispute between the two victims and the suspect.

Police requested 3 ambulances to the scene, according to an alert from BNN at 11:32 p.m.

A call to Thomas Esposito, General Manager of VIP Country Club went to voicemail.

Last night the VIP Country Club hosted the wedding of Sivan and Pinchas Rubin. A yarmulke was laying on the ground in the parking lot with the names of the wedding couple and the date, April 27.

A blue valet parking ticket laying on the ground in the parking lot indicates valet parking services at the VIP Club were provided by MB&L Parking Solutions of Ramsey, NJ. A call to the company early this morning went to voicemail.
