NEW ROCHELLE, NY (July 4, 2022) — Parks and Recreation Commissioner Vin Parise provided a unique photo opportunity for media to get a behind the scenes look at Grucci setting up fireworks at Five Islands Park. And we certainly were not going to miss that.

The Grucci crew had one big rule: do not shoot photos or video by looking down a mortar tube.

The “Spark the Sound” Independence Day Fireworks by Grucci is Monday, July 4th at 9:00 pm. The inside scoop from the Grucci crew is the first switch will be thrown at about 9:30 pm.

Each metal crate contains 30 tubes and there are 16 crates for 480 tubes. Each tube is wired to a switch box and is stuffed with a mortar.

With close to 500 tubes firing, expect a grand fireworks display at the New Rochelle waterfront. Optimum viewing locations are Hudson Park, Joe Curtis Five Islands Park, and waterfront restaurants.

We shot two sets of video to give readers a sense of the Grucci team at work.

  1. I am taking a new approach to responding to questions or comments from readers which you can read about in the link below. The idea is to use Substack as a place I take questions online on a particular page each month and respond so all readers can see the question and my response. I limit this to paid subscribers who are logged in.

I disabled Facebook comments and am no longer approving comments on my website and wish to funnel any back and forth into Substack.
