RYE, NY (August 24, 2022) — A man seen on surveillance video attempting to break into several vehicles and a home in Rye has prompted local police to issue a warning to residents.
Why it matters: There has been a sharp rise in larcenies throughout the area over the past two years.
Police narrative:
Early this morning 8/24/2022 at approximately 2:10 am a male attempted to open the rear door of a residence on Horton Street. The Detective Division canvassed the area and retrieved video of the incident as well as other videos of the same male attempting to enter several parked vehicles.

Rye Police Department Spokesperson: “This is an escalation from the car larcenies we have been seeing over the last two years, We strongly advise our residents to make a conscious effort to lock up their property whether it is the residence or their vehicles”.
