New Rochelle Sponsors Art Contest to Decorate North Avenue Railroad Bridge

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (September 2, 2022) — The winning juried artwork selection will receive a $3,000 prize and be displayed on the North Avenue Bridge.

Why it matters: The winning artwork will serve as both an orienting landmark and a celebration of New Rochelle’s downtown revitalization, highlighting and uplifting the city’s vibrant art scene.

The competition:

  • Contest applicants may submit their artwork as individuals or as teams
  • The deadline is September 28, 2022
  • The artwork must include the words “New Rochelle Train Station”
  • The artwork may be abstract or pictorial, but should include an element indicating the artwork’s proximity to the train station
  • Applicants will be scored based on originality, creativity, composition, and adherence to the theme
  • Current and formers Residents of New Rochelle will receive 5 additional points toward their total score
  • The selection of a winning submission expected to take place in November, with installation before the end of 2022.
