MAMARONECK, NY (September 2, 2022) — A Mamaroneck EMS Worker happened upon the scene of a collision involving an 86-year-old Mamaroneck resident who struck a 52-year-old female Mamaroneck resident with his vehicle.
Why it matters: The pedestrian was conscious but was screaming from her injuries as the EMS worker rendered aid.
Police narrative: On September 1, at approximately 12:10 PM, an officer conducting patrol in the 400 block of Mamaroneck Avenue observed a vehicle stopped in the Southbound Lane and a pedestrian lying in the roadway. The officer immediately requested EMS and additional units to the scene. As the officer exited his patrol vehicle and saw a Mamaroneck EMS member stabilizing the pedestrian’s neck.
As additional officers arrived, they closed Mamaroneck Avenue from Halstead Avenue to Spencer Place to secure the scene for investigation. Once Mamaroneck EMS arrived, they stabilized the pedestrian and transported her to Westchester Medical Center.
The driver who remained on the scene, is fully cooperating with the investigation at this time.
Due to the apparent severity of the pedestrian’s injuries, The Westchester County Accident Investigation Unit was requested, and responded to complete an accident reconstruction.
Charges: The driver was cited for Failing to Exercise Due Care, a violation.
