NEW ROCHELLE, NY (September 29, 2022) — What school officials are calling a “bullet”, and police are calling a “shell casing”, was found by a teacher at Isaac E. Young Middle School yesterday afternoon.

“We appreciate our teacher’s vigilance in locating the item and immediately contacting school leaders,” said a District spokesperson.

School narrative:

At around 2:00 p.m. yesterday, Isaac E. Young Middle School directed students and staff to “hold in place” after a teacher noticed a single bullet in a hallway. School administrators contacted our school district safety team, who then contacted the New Rochelle Police Department. Police responded and school district security determined that the school was safe to resume normal activity and that there was no immediate threat to students or staff. NRPD and the school district continue to investigate the matter and ask anyone with information to please contact school administrators or share information through our anonymous reporting portal.
