NEW ROCHELLE, NY (October 28, 2022) — A Bronx man was arrested Thursday after allegedly stealing his grandmother’s car, attempting to rob several apartments, attempting to carjack one vehicle, assaulting 4 civilians, carjacking a second vehicle then using that vehicle to deliberately ram a New Rochelle Police Vehicle, injuring an NRPD Officer.
Arrest and Charges:
Devon K. March, 31, of the Bronx, NY.

- 2 counts, Burglary – 2nd (entering a dwelling), a C Violent Felony
- Robbery – 2nd, a C Felony
- Robbery – 3rd, a D Felony

Police narrative: On Thursday October 27th, 2022 at about 5:59 pm, New Rochelle Police received a call of a possible burglary occurring at a home on Morgan Street. Officers responded and found that the suspect had left the scene and that illegal entry was not made. Shortly thereafter at about 6:26 pm, New Rochelle Police received a call of a robbery occurring in the parking lot of 10 Davenport Avenue and that the suspect fled to the parking lot of 33 Davenport Avenue and was attempting to flee in a vehicle. As the first officer arrived in the parking lot of 33 Davenport Avenue, the suspected intentionally rammed into the police vehicle, injuring the officer and causing significant damage to the police car. The suspect continued to flee in his vehicle but got stuck in traffic and was apprehend by additional New Rochelle Police Officers. Additional victims came forward and reported other robbery, larceny and assault incidents that occurred at both 10 Davenport Ave and 33 Davenport Ave. New Rochelle Detectives responded to sort through and investigate all reported crimes. Further investigation revealed that this suspect was also involved in the original incident on Morgan Street. He was placed under arrest and taken to Police Headquarters.
March was reportedly under the influence of drugs. He was taken to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital then later released from the hospital and held at the New Rochelle Police pending arraignment.
March was arraigned before Judge Matthew J. Costa on Friday afternoon at New Rochelle City Court. Bail was set and he was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla, NY. He is due back in New Rochelle City Court on November 10, 2022.
Witness Accounts: Residents in the apartments on Davenport Avenue say March arrived at the Marina’s Edge apartments including 10 Davenport in a silver Honda Fit believed to have been stolen from a family member. After attempting to enter several apartments he returned to the Honda Fit. Seeing two residents in a car nearby he threatened them and attempted a car jacking. The two women fought back, one spraying March in the face with pepper spray. March assaulted the two women, then fled running across Davenport Avenue to the Harbor House apartments. One of the women, who later went to the hospital, called 911, followed March on foot, while providing police dispatch with a detailed, real-time account as March made his way to 33 Davenport Avenue. The second woman pursued March in her vehicle.
CCTV video: video shot at Marina’s Edge is blurry and at distance but depicts the Silver Honda Fit already parked as the second car parks in the adjacent parking space. March and the two woman can be scene near the cars, then March leaving, the one woman follows on foot, the other backing out of the parking space and driving after March. The first told dispatch March assaulted two more people, took of his shirt to change his appearance, encountered the driver of another car that happened on the scene, carjacked that vehicle, drove that vehicle at the woman who pepper-sprayed him. A police officer arrived on scene in an NRPD patrol car. March sideswiped the patrol car, causing injury to the officer but was quickly apprehended as more officers responded to the scene.
