NEW ROCHELLE, NY (January 25, 2023) — The Superintendent Search by the New Rochelle Board of Education will be completed with lightening speed — in about six weeks.
By contrast, past search process took place over many months, included public input sessions to develop job criteria for the ideal candidate and involved search firms or, in one case, the Superintendent of Southern Westchester BOCES (Feijóo). The abbreviated 2023 search will be managed by Ingerman Smith, the school district’s law firm.
The application period, typically open for a month, will begin January 27th and February 8th, is 9 days.
The front runner appears to be Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Corey Reynolds who joined the City School District of New Rochelle 18 months ago.
The Board is looking to fill the position after the unexpected resignation of current Superintendent Jonathan P. Raymond who announced his registration on January 10th.
That evening Board President William Ianuzzi read a prepared statement signaling the Board’s intention to hire from within.
The Board believes we have a number of high quality candidates working for the District who have the skills and qualifications needed to assume this important role.
Public input will involve a 100 person Citizens Advisory Committee with half of those school district stakeholders appointed by the Board of Education and the other half selected by lottery. Apply here.
The CAC will participate in the process on a single day. Members will be asked to attend presentations by the finalists for the superintendent position, tentatively scheduled for March 2, then provide their opinions to the Board.
The Board of Education will oversee the candidate recruitment process, consider candidates and make a final choice after reviewing input from the community and stakeholders.
Candidate applications will be submitted through OLASJobs.org, the main website where the school district posts job openings.
