Yonkers Man Arrested for Overnight Stabbing in New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (February 13, 2023) — A Yonkers man stabbed a New Rochelle man on Clinton Avenue then fled the scene. He was apprehended by police near the New Rochelle train station. The victim is in stable condition.

Police narrative: On February 13th, 2023, at about 1:37 am, New Rochelle Police received a call from a stabbing victim, who told 911 operators that he had just been stabbed and further gave them a description of the suspect, and the vehicle the suspect used to flee the scene. The victim then hung up the line and went to the hospital on his own. New Rochelle Police Officers were able to quickly locate and arrest the suspect at the intersection of North Avenue and Garden Street.

Officers responded to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital and located the victim, a 23- year-old male New Rochelle resident, who later underwent surgery and was listed as being in stable condition. New Rochelle Detectives responded and located the crime scene as well as the knife used in the crime, in the area of North Avenue and Clinton Place. The cause of the dispute that led to the stabbing appears to stem from a previous altercation between the victim and the suspect.
