NEW ROCHELLE, NY (February 17, 2023) — Four drivers are facing stiff fines and points on their license after they were pulled over all at once by a NRPD Traffic Cop on a motorcycle. Two of the drivers pleaded with the police officer to no avail claiming they did not pass the yellow school bus.

“We regularly do school bus enforcement around the city and the North Avenue corridor is frequently part of it,” said Captain J. Collins Coyne, Commander of the NRPD Criminal Investigations Division.

“We always try to promote motorist safety for pedestrians and in particular school children,” Coyne added.

About twenty years ago a small child was killed not far from where the traffic stop took place.

The fine for passing a school bus is $250, with an additional $88.00 court fee and 5 points on the driver’s license.
