WCPD RTCC & NRPD Team Up to Nab 2 Suspects in Hit-and-Run of PA Cop

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (February 17, 2023) — The Westchester County Police Realtime Crime Center alerted New Rochelle Police of a vehicle wanted out by police in Palmer Township, PA. The vehicle was a Black 4-door Alfa-Romeo with New Jersey tags X92-NMY.

Two weeks ago the driver of the vehicle allegedly attempted to flee from a Sergeant in Palmer Township and hit the officer when making a U-turn.

The vehicle was wanted out-of-state for multiple crimes, some related to forgery.

New Rochelle Police made a traffic stop of the vehicle on Huguenot Street at North Avenue at about 7:00 am on February 6, 2023.

Evidence of stolen property was found in the vehicle by New Rochelle Police. The vehicle was impounded and removed by Safeway Towing.

Arrests & Charges:

Brian Colon, 26, of New Rochelle, NY (Driver)

  • 2 x Criminal Possession of Stolen Property – 5th, an A Misdemeanor
  • 2 x Possession of a forged instrument – 3rd, an A Misdemeanor

Colon was arraigned before Judge Jared R. Rice in New Rochelle City Court on February 6, 2023. He pleaded not guilty and was ROR’d. He was given a return date to New Rochelle City Court of February 27, 2023.

Charlie Aquino, 29, of Bronx, NY (Passenger)

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property – 5th, an A Misdemeanor
  • Possession of a Forged Instrument – 3rd, an A Misdemeanor
  • Fugitive from Justice (based on an extraditable warrant for forgery out of Harrisburg PA)

There is currently no information on Charlie Aquino in the New York State Unified Court System database.

We have a pending inquiry into the Palmer Township, PA police department for further details on these matters from their end at the condition of the officer struck by the vehicle in Pennsylvania.
