NEW ROCHELLE, NY (April 7, 2023) — A gate was smashed and knocked off its hinges in an apparent car theft at the New Rochelle Audi Dealership on Harrison Street in downtown New Rochelle.
A reader observed the smashed gate at 4:45 am and noticed Talk of the Sound about an hour later. We arrived on scene at about 6:00 am. New Rochelle Police was on scene, waiting for the manager of the dealership.
No details have been released by the New Rochelle Police Department on whether and how many vehicles may have been stolen.
The area around the Audi dealership has experienced a series of incidents from 3 deaths by overdose across the street which police suspect involved fentanyl, a shooting where one bullet flew past the audi dealership and struck a window of a luxury high rise apartment building a half mile away, and a shooting around the corner on Main Street on Election Day 2022.
