NEW ROCHELLE, NY (May 17, 2023) — Sound shore school districts voted on budgets and school board members this week. Here’s what happened:
- In Blind Brook, the budget failed to pass, but three propositions were approved. Danny Fung and Katherine Hallissy Ayala were elected to the school board. The budget exceeded the tax cap so required a 60% + 1 majority to pass.
- In Mamaroneck, the budget passed. Two propositions were approved. Michele Metsch and David Mendes Carlos were elected to the school board.
- In New Rochelle, the budget passed. Makeda Lewis and Don Vega were elected to the school board.
- In Pelham, the budget passed. Annemarie Garcia and Sid Burke were elected to the school board.
- In Port Chester, the budget passed. George Ford Jr. and Roberto Dominquez were elected to the school board.
- In Rye, the budget passed. Shaun Kloepfer and Tom Stein were elected to the school board.
- In Rye Neck, the budget passed. Jason Carmel and Erica Wagner were elected to the school board.
Overall, most school districts in Westchester County saw their budgets pass and new members elected to their school boards.
