BOLTON LANDING, NY (May 18, 2023) — The Village of Pelham was honored at the Annual Meeting of the New York State Conference of Mayors (NYCOM) this week. Mayor Chance Mullen and Village Trustee Hanan Kamal Eldahry were in attendance at the event held in Bolton Landing, NY.
At a ceremony on May 18th, the Village of Pelham was awarded NYCOM’s Local Government Achievement Award Honorable Mention for the Pelham House project. The awards program is in its 33rd year and recognizes innovative projects that have improved quality of life, resulted in cost savings, established cooperative partnerships, created new or unique approaches to issues, and/or streamlined the delivery of services.
Mayor Mullen expressed his gratitude for the recognition: “This project has been guided by the decisions made by two Mayors, eleven Trustees, resident volunteers on multiple advisory boards, and a team of planning consultants, engineers, professional architects, and attorneys all representing the interests of our community. It’s an honor to see the hard work of so many people being honored in this way.”
After receiving the award, Mayor Mullen and lead developer (and Village resident) Patrick Normoyle were invited to join a panel called “How Local Governments are Leading on Housing,” moderated by NYCOM General Counsel Wade Beltramo. The session aimed to provide insights into what local government officials can do to foster more housing production in ways that align with a community’s needs.
The Village’s work will also be highlighted in an upcoming issue of NYCOM’s Municipal Matters magazine and featured in the Best Practices section of the NYCOM website.
