NEW ROCHELLE, NY (May 24, 2023) — A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly-refurbished Seacord Park/Playground was held at the corner of John Street and Allard Avenue on Monday, May 22.

William H. Seacord was an employee of the Department of Public Works who had tragically passed away while on the job at the age of 41.

Known as a hard and loyal worker and well-liked by his friends and family, many had advocated for the naming of “something” in the city in his memory.

The land where the park/playground was presently located had been privately owned and deeded to the City under the stipulation that it only be used as a Park/Playground. Seacord Park had delighted neighborhood families for decades, and this new equipment would be enjoyed by many.

Billy’s granddaughter and other family members were in attendance along with students from Jefferson Elementary School.
