WHITE PLAINS, NY (September 18, 2024) — A Georgia man was arraigned on an indictment charging him with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend inside her apartment at 55 Clinton Place in New Rochelle and remains remanded at the Westchester County Jail.
Westchester County District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah announced that Robert Wooten, 29, of Atlanta, Georgia, was arraigned before New York State Supreme Court Judge Larry J. Schwartz in Westchester County Court on a grand jury indictment charging him with two counts of Murder in the Second Degree, Burglary in the First Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree.
According to the felony complaint, at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Aug. 24, Wooten allegedly fired a loaded gun multiple times at Meisha Williams, his girlfriend of several years, shooting her twice in the back inside her apartment.
Friends of the victim discovered her body on the bathroom floor of the apartment and contacted the New Rochelle Police Department, who located the defendant in Queens where he was arrested.
The defendant remains remanded at the Westchester County Jail since his arrest.
DA Rocah said: “The intersection of gun violence and intimate partner violence can be deadly.
