NEW ROCHELLE, NY (November 9, 2024) — On November 7, 2024, New Rochelle Police arrested a 19-year-old man in connection to the assault of a 13-year-old girl. The arrest follows an investigation that began when the victim, highly intoxicated, was transported to the hospital and reported that she might have been sexually assaulted.
Upon receiving the report, detectives immediately began their investigation. They were able to confirm that a crime had occurred, with the suspect, later identified as Joey Valencia, providing alcohol to the victim, who was 13 years old.
Detectives, posing as the victim, successfully made contact with the suspect and engaged in communications. During this interaction, it was reiterated to the suspect the true age of the victim. Despite this, the suspect continued to express interest in meeting up with the victim again, further implicating himself in the criminal activity.
Later that evening, detectives arranged a meeting with the suspect. When the suspect arrived, he was taken into custody without incident.
The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are working to determine if there are additional victims.
Valencia is currently being held for arraignment.
