RYE, NY (April 8, 2025) — A New York City man faces multiple charges after allegedly stealing a car and leading police on a pursuit through southern Westchester County on April 6, authorities said.

Antonio Trusty, 36, of New York, NY, was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, following the chase that spanned several parkways and local roads, according to the Westchester County Police Department.

The incident began around 1:05 p.m. when the Westchester County Real Time Crime Center alerted local departments about a stolen vehicle with Massachusetts license plate AG781 traveling on the Cross County Parkway. Officers spotted the 2011 Toyota Highlander and attempted a traffic stop, but Trusty failed to comply, prompting a pursuit.

The chase continued onto the Hutchinson River Parkway, Interstate 95 north, and the Playland Parkway, where Rye Police officers joined the effort. Trusty allegedly drove off-road onto properties belonging to Rye residents and the American Yacht Club in an attempt to evade capture.

During the pursuit, Trusty struck a Westchester County Police car and a vehicle owned by a Connecticut resident on Stuyvesant Avenue, police said. All involved parties refused medical attention.

The pursuit ended when Trusty crashed into a tree at Stuyvesant Avenue and Barron Place. After a brief foot chase, officers arrested him.

In addition to the felony stolen property charge, the Westchester County Police Department charged Trusty with third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and second-degree obstructing governmental administration. The City of Rye Police Department also issued Trusty four vehicle and traffic law summonses for leaving the scene of an accident without reporting.
