NEW ROCHELLE, NY (October 17, 2025) — City Manager Wilfredo Melendez has issued a statement on Flowers Park:
We know how much Flowers Park means to our community. That’s why we want to be clear about the City’s recent Request for Proposals (RFP) regarding a potential redevelopment of the park.
This RFP is an early step to explore ideas for improving the park’s facilities. Upgrades would include premier athletic fields, playgrounds, restrooms, programming, and concessions while also addressing serious flooding and sustainability concerns. We’re looking at how to better protect and enhance this public space for the future.
Importantly:
No decisions have been made. This is just the beginning of a longer process.
The park will remain publicly owned.
Any proposal would require community input and City Council approval before moving forward.
If the right plan comes forward, this could be a public-private partnership that improves and preserves Flowers Park for future generations.
We welcome your voices, your questions, and your ideas as we move through this process together.
