NEW ROCHELLE, NY (October 23, 2025) — New Rochelle Opera will present “Great Moments from the Grand Stage!” on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the Christopher Murphy Auditorium at Iona University

The first half of the program includes beloved arias and ensembles from the world’s greatest composers, with selections from New Rochelle Opera’s upcoming 2026 concert production of Verdi’s Nabucco.

The second half highlights great Broadway melodies, including music by Rodgers and Hammerstein.

“This concert beautifully bridges the worlds of opera and musical theatre and features performing artists that will thrill and inspire in both,” said Maestro Jason Tramm, the newly appointed Artistic and General Director of New Rochelle Opera. “Audiences will experience the timeless power of the unamplified human voice.”

General admission tickets cost $40, with $35 for seniors and $15 for non-Iona students. Iona University staff and students attend free of charge.

Tickets are available at www.nropera.org or by mail to New Rochelle Opera, P.O. Box 55, New Rochelle, NY 10804.

The concert features soprano Christina Major, tenor Jeremy Brauner, mezzo-soprano Michelle Detwiler, baritone Jason Detwiler, pianist Alla Milchtein and emcee Jason Tramm.

Soprano Christina Major has been praised in the Dallas Morning News for her sumptuous and agile “Italianate sound” that brings back memories of the earlier greats. She was hailed in Opera News as a “sensitive actress” who “brought the highest emotional stakes of the evening.” San Francisco Chronicle’s Joshua Kosman described her as having “expressive verve and technical command.” Her 2025-2026 season includes returning to Opera Tampa as Lady Macbeth in Verdi’s Macbeth, soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah at Ocean Grove’s Great Auditorium, Leonora in Il Trovatore at Seton Hall under Jason Tramm, and a featured role in “A Tribute to Pavarotti” with Teatro Lirico D’Europa in Jacksonville.
