YONKERS, NY (February 27, 2026) — The “WORDS” exhibition is currently on view at the Yonkers Arts Project Space, featuring the work of 65 artists in a multi-disciplinary show exploring how language shapes human connection and expression.

Among the artists featured are several from the Sound Shore area of Westchester County, including Brutus Moore of New Rochelle, Meera Agarwal of Rye and Brenda Pardo of Port Chester.

Presented by Yonkers Arts, the exhibition highlights artist interpretations of words in traditional and non-traditional media, including paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography, video, performance and installation.

“Words shape our lives connecting us to each other and convey our needs, desires, feelings, and wishes,” organizers said in describing the theme of the exhibition.

Programming connected to the show includes an ongoing collection of workshops for all ages in writing, poetry, lyrics, performance and related disciplines. Yonkers Arts also is featuring its Poet in Residence, Tom Ray, who will be extensively involved in workshops and performances during the run of the exhibition.

“The work presented in this show represents a wide range of styles and disciplines, all coming together like a collective choir in a show we are proud to present,” said Adam Shultz, head of curation at Yonkers Arts.

The exhibition runs from Feb. 12 through March 21, 2026, at the Yonkers Arts Project Space, 216 Lake Ave., Yonkers. Gallery hours are Wednesdays through Fridays from 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
