Mah Jongg is a tile-based game that originated in China and is typically played by four players. The game involves drawing and discarding tiles to complete specific combinations.

The game is known for its tactile play, as participants handle smooth tiles and shuffle them at the start of each round. Play moves quickly, requiring pattern recognition, memory and strategy as players work to complete a designated hand while observing tiles discarded by others.

Mah Jongg has grown in popularity in communities across the United States, with players often gathering in libraries, community centers and private groups for regular sessions that combine competition and social interaction.
