WHITE PLAINS, NY (March 27, 2025) — Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace is set to sponsor her administration’s inaugural gun buyback event this weekend at the Union Baptist Church in White Plains. The event, scheduled for Saturday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., aims to reduce gun violence in the community.
The initiative is a collaboration with the Town of Greenburgh Police Department, the White Plains Department of Public Safety, the Union Baptist Church, and the NAACP White Plains/Greenburgh Branch. Residents can surrender firearms with no questions asked in exchange for gift cards valued up to $300.
“While we recognize that any one program may not be a panacea for stopping gun crime, we do know that removing even a single firearm from our community can make us safer,” Cacace stated.
In related efforts, the Westchester County DA’s office recently reported the interception of a package containing 12 kilograms of cocaine, valued at approximately $1 million, destined for a White Plains address. This was achieved in partnership with Homeland Security Investigations New York.
The DA’s office also highlighted recent law enforcement achievements, including 61 arrests related to gun crimes and the recovery of 48 firearms in the fourth quarter of 2025.
