WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (March 31, 2026) — Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced the successful completion of the District Attorney’s Safer Highways, or DASH, initiative, which resulted in 30 criminal arrests, 1,674 tickets issued, and two firearms seized in February.

The initiative, conducted in partnership with the New York State Police, Troop K, aimed to address dangerous driving on the Sprain Brook Parkway and I-684. The effort led to a 92% increase in traffic citations compared to the previous month, with enforcement on the Sprain Brook seeing a 280% surge.

Among the arrests were 12 felonies and 18 misdemeanors, significantly higher than the previous month’s figures. The initiative also led to the recovery of 269 grams of cocaine and 59 grams of heroin.

DA Cacace highlighted two notable arrests early in the initiative: a parolee from Bristol, Conn., engaged in reckless driving, and a motorist accused of pointing a loaded gun at a school bus carrying special needs students.

“The dramatic surge in enforcement in February is a testament to the success of DASH,” Cacace said. “I am pleased to see that our DASH program has yielded significant results and had a measurable effect on road safety.”

Cacace expressed gratitude to Major Daniel Smith, Troop K’s commander, for his partnership in the initiative.
