RYE BROOK, NY (April 7, 2026) — A 37-year-old woman found unconscious and not breathing after an alleged domestic dispute on Westview Avenue in Rye Brook has died, Westchester County officials said.
Samantha J. Maldacker died following the March 30 incident at a residence on Westview Avenue. Hugo E. Soto-Diaz, 30, who lived at the address, remains in custody at the Westchester County Jail.
Westchester County Communications Director Catherine Cioffi said in an email: “Cause of death is still pending. There is toxicology testing being performed.”
Westchester County Department of Correction records list Soto-Diaz, whose aliases include Hugo Enrique Soto-Diaz, VIC, as having been born Jan. 19, 1996. He remains in custody at the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla. He was booked March 31, 2026, at 12:03 a.m. EDT.
Soto-Diaz was previously charged with second-degree attempted murder and arraigned in Rye Town Court following the incident.
