NEW ROCHELLE, NY (April 14, 2026) — The City School District of New Rochelle said its Facebook account was “apparently” hacked after videos appeared on the account that the district said it did not post.

Multiple video posts appeared on the district’s Facebook page showing clips from the television sitcom Two and a Half Men, including content featuring a child and sexualized imagery not typical of official school communications. The posts appeared in multiple instances, including duplicate entries, based on a review of the district’s Facebook page.

In a statement, district spokesperson Monica Mahaffey said the content was unauthorized and that the district is working to regain control of the account.

“Our Facebook account has apparently been hacked. The school district did not post these videos. We are working to regain access to and ownership of our account,” Mahaffey said.

Mahaffey is the district’s Director of Public Information.

The district did not provide additional details about when it became aware of the issue or how the account may have been compromised. The district also did not say whether it had reported the issue to Facebook or law enforcement.

As of about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, the posts had remained visible for roughly 21 to 23 hours, based on timestamps shown on the district’s Facebook page.

Facebook’s process for recovering hacked accounts can take several days, with automated reviews often completed within 24 to 72 hours and longer delays possible depending on verification requirements.
