Rye Country Day School Among Winners at Westchester Envirothon

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY (April 17, 2026) — Rye Country Day School and several other local schools claimed top honors at the 2026 Westchester County Regional Envirothon at Croton Point Park.

Fifteen high schools participated. The winners were Pleasantville High School 14A in Forestry, Mahopac High School 8B in Soils and Land Use, Fox Lane High School 12 A in Wildlife, Ossining High School 19B in Current Issue, Scarsdale High School 4A in Aquatic Ecology and Rye Country Day School 11B in Oral Presentation. Mount Academy 3A was the overall champion and Scarsdale High School 4A was the Westchester County winner and will represent the County at the New York State Envirothon.

Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins praised the students’ passion and intelligence, stating, “I’m confident that the future of Westchester County’s environment is in great hands.”

The event, hosted by Westchester County since 2022, featured competitions in aquatic ecology, forestry, soils and land use, wildlife, and environmental issues.

The Envirothon was cosponsored by the Westchester County Soil and Water Conservation District, Planning Department, and Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation, with support from over 50 volunteers and various organizations.
