NEW ROCHELLE, NY (April 19, 2026) — Communities across New Rochelle, Pelham Manor, and Mamaroneck are hosting a series of Earth Day and environmental events in April and May, including cleanups, educational programs, and an Arbor Day tree planting tied to America’s 250th anniversary.
In New Rochelle, the city is organizing multiple events as part of its Earth Week programming, reflecting its GreeNR Climate Action Plan and broader sustainability goals.
“We’re excited to bring our community together this spring through a series of events that make sustainability engaging, accessible, and fun,” said City Manager Wilfredo Melendez. “From celebrating Earth Day and volunteering in our parks to enjoying our beautiful waterfront, these activities offer meaningful ways for residents to connect with one another while helping to create a cleaner, greener New Rochelle.”
The city will host an Earth Day Festival at City Hall, 515 North Avenue, on Wednesday, April 22, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a rain date of April 23. The event will feature a marketplace with eco-friendly vendors and organizations, along with music and art activities.
New Rochelle will also commemorate Arbor Day on April 24 with the planting of a Liberty Tree in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary. The Liberty Tree, described as a historic symbol of freedom and unity dating back to the American Revolution, highlights environmental stewardship and the preservation of natural resources. A Liberty Tree planting event is scheduled for April 24 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Hudson Park & Beach.
The city’s 10th Annual Parks Clean-Up Weekend is set for April 25 and 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in partnership with Volunteer New York, bringing together residents, volunteers, and community leaders to clean and revitalize 13 parks.
The Village of Larchmont invites residents to an Earth Day celebration this Saturday, April 25, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Constitution Park. The event promises a variety of eco-friendly activities designed to engage both adults and children.
Participants can learn about water conservation, recycling, energy-saving insulation, composting, tree planting, and more. Families are encouraged to ride their bikes to the event to receive a map for a scavenger bike hunt.
In Pelham Manor, a community event recognizing Earth Day will take place Monday, April 20, at 9 a.m. at Veterans Park. Organized in collaboration with EcoPel, the event will provide information on water quality, stormwater management, and invasive plants. Participants will also be able to help remove invasive vines from the park. The village also announced Compost Awareness Week from May 3 to May 9.
In Mamaroneck, the village held its Clean & Green Day on Saturday, April 18, at 9:30 a.m., with participants meeting at Harbor Island Park. The community-wide cleanup focused on parks and neighborhoods, with supplies provided at check-in. Community service letters were available for registered participants with signed waivers, and a free compost soil giveaway was offered to village residents. The event was hosted in collaboration with the Village of Mamaroneck Committee for the Environment, Parks & Recreation, and Public Works.
Across the municipalities, the events are aimed at promoting environmental awareness, sustainability, and community participation during Earth Day and the spring season.
